Animal Farm: upcycled bottles by Nishi Chauhan – upcycleDZINE
For everybody who likes animals, and who doesn’t, this is a unique piece of design/art/lighting. Period! And the best thing of all, it’s upcycled. These lamps are from a series called ‘Animal Farm‘, designed by Nishi Chauhan, Bangalore | India. Looking at these lamps makes one really happy. Six unique bottles, six characters. Meet Peeves, Porky, Gerry, Flo, Humf and Ellie. The animals look great during the day but come alive when the light is switched on.

Bottles turned into charming animals

Nishi Chauhan is happiest when working with her hands, and prefers a more tangible approach to design and craftsmanship. She enjoys collaborating with interesting people and working with the rich crafts of India. When not designing products, Nishi splits her time between analog photography and illustration.
Nishi Chauhan about Animal Farm: “It all started with the gradual accumulation of glass bottles in our household. Beer bottles, mason jars, wine bottles, pickles, preserves and sauce bottles, ad nauseum. Soon it became difficult to ignore and the bottles in the growing pile took on a life of their own. Shapes started to emerge- animals, things, people I’d known and possibly even a cloud or two! From such trivialities are ideas born.”
You should read her whole story, which is on her website, and see the photos. A beautiful story how design meets craftsmanship.
